Happy Monday, brothers and sisters! Sorry that this one came later today.
James 3:6-8 says, " And the tongue is a fire, a world of unrighteousness. The tongue is set among our members, staining the whole body, setting on fire the entire course of life, and set on fire by hell. 7 For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and sea creature, can be tamed and has been tamed by mankind, 8 but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison."
That's quite a warning! Our words carry a lot of power. We can praise our Father in heaven and speak encouragement into others, or we can spew out venom that hurts others.
Think about your words. What fruit do they produce? Do you speak words of truth and life from the Holy Spirit? Or are the words coming out of your mouth vile, manipulative, and ultimately, contrary to the Holy Spirit?
Taming the tongue isn't easy. It's a fire. You need the living waters of the Holy Spirit to put out that fire and bring springs of life. This week, I encourage you to pray, asking the Lord to bless your words with LIFE. Confess the ways your tongue has sinned and hurt others.
Praise Jesus that he gave us the words of eternal life (John 6:68)! His words were always perfect.
May God use your tongue for good this week! The Holy Spirit can use your tongue in mighty ways!
